January 2012
Warm Greetings to all our Palmer Families,
February is right around the corner so I thought what better time than now to send out my January newsletter! I’d like to blame the unusually mild temperatures, the lack of snow days, or even the recent siting of two robins on my lawn as the reasons for me being confused as to what month it is, and subsequently penning this newsletter a couple of weeks later than usual, but to tell you the truth I cannot in good conscience blame it on any of the above. In fact, I have no other reason to confess to you other than we seem to have hit the door running upon our return from winter break and haven’t stopped since!
In the meantime I do have a number of informational items to share with you and will report them out to you in bullet form:
- The Palmer Web-site now has a link established for the Building Leadership Team (BLT)
Items of interest this month are the January newsletter (Topic: Bullying) and the
Class Room in the Spotlight feature (this month it’s Mrs. Abdullah’s 4th grade).
I encourage you to regularly visit this link and stay connected to Palmer!
- Knight of the Arts ( Palmer’s Spring Art Show and Music Concert) has a new date!
It is now Tues. June 5th (Not the 6th) so please make note of the change.
- The NYS Assessments for ELA and Math (grades 3-5) are set for April 17, 18, 19 and April 25, 26, 27 respectively. There have been a number of changes to the Assessments this year- most notably: each grade level tests all 3 days for each content area, and students will have a little more time for some of the sub-test components. As always, please make note of these important dates and make every effort to have your child(ren) in attendance and ready to go on those days. More information regarding the assessments will be forthcoming
In closing, I just want to thank Ms. Kimball and all of the students who participated in last week’s Palmer’s Got Talent show. It was truly our best production yet and I couldn’t have been more proud of everyone who took part. Great things are happening at Palmer!
Until next month,
Jamie Bernard
